Ruins of Santa Mariña Dozo
The Galician writer Álvaro Cunqueiro, one of the initiators of the Albariño Festival, referred to the cemetery of Santa Mariña Dozo as “the most melancholy graveyard in the world”.
The remains of this church and the cemetery are a National Monument since 1943 and in 2014, it was chosen as the third most important funerary monument of Spain, as well as being included in the prestigious Association of Significant Cemeteries in Europe (ASCE).
The visit to this magical place can be used to climb the mount of A Pastora and from the top, see a beautiful view of the stately town of Cambados, of the fields of vines and of course, the sea of the Arousa estuary.
